Weekend Support Worker (Boldshaves Oast)

About the role

We are recruiting a Weekend Support Worker to join the team at Boldshaves Oast, a residential service supporting adults with learning disabilities.

This is a rewarding, hands-on role where you will support the people who live at Boldshaves Oast to live fulfilling, safe and meaningful lives. You will work as part of a supportive team, providing personalised care and encouragement while promoting independence, dignity and choice.

This position is part-time and will involve working only on weekends, up to 24 hours per week. The role requires you to drive as part of your duties.

Key responsibilities

As a Weekend Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide person-centred support with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household tasks and social activities
  • Act as a Key Worker where required, contributing to the development, delivery and review of individual care plans and risk assessments
  • Support residents to access the community, attend appointments, pursue hobbies and maintain relationships with family and professionals
  • Administer and record medication in line with policies and training
  • Maintain accurate written and electronic records, including daily notes and incident reporting
  • Promote health, safety and wellbeing at all times, following safeguarding and adult protection procedures
  • Work effectively as part of a team, contributing to shift handovers and positive communication
  • Support residents to manage their personal money in line with financial procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
  • Drive residents using a service vehicle to appointments and activities as required

About you

We are looking for a caring, reliable individual committed to supporting adults with learning disabilities.

You will be patient, calm and compassionate, with the ability to work confidently during weekends and adapt to the needs of the people you support.

Essential requirements

  • Experience of working in residential care, domiciliary care or a similar setting supporting adults with learning disabilities
  • A flexible approach to working weekends
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as part of a team and use your own initiative when required
  • Commitment to person-centred care, equality and dignity
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory and specialist training
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive service vehicles as part of the role

Qualifications

  • Willingness to work towards the Care Certificate or a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care if not already held
  • Relevant qualifications are welcomed but not essential as full training will be provided
