Gold Brahma chicken

The Gold Brahma chicken is a large and impressive bird, they are calm and friendly.

Males are calm and generally not aggressive towards humans. They are not skittish or easily scared, making them a popular choice for families with children. Due to their docile demeanour, they can be handled by almost anyone.

Frizzled Brahma chicken

The Frizzled Brahma is a large fowl bird. They are a cross breed of the equally impressive brahma and frizzle. The characteristic frizzle plumage means they look interesting but require good housing as the feathers aren’t waterproof. They are relatively docile crossbreed, much like their parent breeds.

Cream Legbar chicken

An alert and active breed, Cream Legbar chickens can be a little flighty. They have pretty feathers with black, grey and tan markings and a delightful feather crests behind their comb.

Cream legbar hens lay beautifully coloured eggs- varying from light blue to light green in colour.

Buff Orpington chicken

The large size and soft appearance of Buff Orpington chickens with their rich colour makes them a very attractive and popular bird. They are often broody and make great mothers. Being rather heavy, they are unable to fly, so are good backyard birds. The fluff of their feathers means they are not waterproof so they must be kept out of the rain.

Black Polish chicken

Polish Black chickens have a distinctive pom-pom like crest that almost entirely covers the head. The crest can impair their vision which means they can sometimes be a little grumpy. Originally developed as egg layers, the breed is now mainly used as a show bird.

Despite the name, this breed does not originate from Poland.

Barred Plymouth chicken

Barred Plymouth chickens are hardy, friendly birds which are easily tamed and make great pets for children due to their docile nature.

They are not good fliers so do not need high fencing around their coop. They can be quite broody so regular egg collection is important.

As the name suggests, they have a barred pattern to their plumage.

Ferret

Meet our playful ferrets, Perry and Walnut. We built them their own special enclosure across from the Discovery Zone, complete with ball pit and lots of play areas for these cute animals.

Ferrets are small, playful animals with long, skinny bodies and lots of energy. They love to explore, hide in small spaces, and sometimes even do a silly dance when they’re excited. Ferrets are friendly and curious, and they enjoy spending time with people and other ferrets. These animals were domesticated thousands of years ago.

Narragansett turkey

The Narragansett turkey is known for its calm nature and maternal instincts. They are good egg layers and produce good quality meat.

This breed of turkey has a striking appearance; the plumage is black, grey, tan and white with white bars on the wings and the head is red to a blueish colour.

Sebastopol goose

Long trailing or frizzled feathers is the key feature that identifies the Sebastopol goose.

It is the only breed with these unusual curly feathers. The curly feathers mean that the bird cannot fly.

White and buff coloured birds are accepted in the breed standard.

Muscovy duck

Muscovy ducks are an increasingly popular garden pet due to its intelligent, friendly and trusting nature.

Some people regard the Muscovy as a goose rather than a duck because they are generally quiet animals and do not quack like other ducks but make a low hissing sound instead.

Muscovys come in a variety of colours such a white, blue, chocolate and black.
