Polish Black chickens have a distinctive pom-pom like crest that almost entirely covers the head. The crest can impair their vision which means they can sometimes be a little grumpy. Originally developed as egg layers, the breed is now mainly used as a show bird.
Despite the name, this breed does not originate from Poland.
