Step into our colourful aviary – perfect for budding ornathologists!

Come and meet our feathered friends in the aviary, where you’ll find a vibrant collection of birds all around you! This is a walk-in experience, so you can get really close to these charming creatures as they flutter about in their specially designed space.

Relax on one of our benches taking in the peaceful sounds of the birds. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some nature, whether you’re a budding birdwatcher or just looking for a bit of quiet time.

You’ll see budgerigars, cockatiels, zebra finches, and java sparrows, each with their own unique colours and personalities.

Budgerigar

These little parrots are well-loved for their playful nature and their ability to mimic sounds. In the wild, they’re green and yellow with black markings, but in our aviary, they can be a whole range of colours – from blues and yellows to whites and greys. To tell the boys from the girls,  just have a look at the colour around their nostrils. Males have bright royal blue markings, while females have either white or brown.

Cockatiel

Known for their distinctive yellow crest, orange cheek patches, and cheerful chirps, these birds are a joy to watch. They’re greyish-blue with white wing markings (though the girls are a bit duller), and their long tails make them easy to spot as they swoop through the air. Cockatiels love to nibble on seeds and fruits – and you might even see them doing a little happy dance in the aviary!

Zebra Finch

These tiny, lively birds are just 10cm long, but they sure pack a lot of personality! The males are super colourful, with orange cheek patches that make them stand out. Zebra Finches are social creatures and love to hang out in flocks. They’re also very adaptable, nesting in all sorts of places – from trees and shrubs to old rabbit warrens! Keep an eye out for them hopping around on the ground or flitting through the greenery.

Java Sparrow

Java Sparrow

With their distinctive white cheeks and thick red bills, these little birds are always a crowd favourite. Java Sparrows are 15-17cm long and live in flocks, just like the Zebra Finches. Their plumage is a soft grey or fawn, and they have pink feet that make them look extra cute. In the wild, they feed in rice fields, but here in the aviary, they’ll be snacking on seeds and giving you plenty of chances to admire their beauty.
