Four seasons of fun on the farm

There’s always something new to enjoy on our 100-acre farm, and each season has its own distinctive flavour. Learn more about what you can expect each season at the Rare Breeds Centre below.

Spring lambing - ewe and lamb with shepherdess

Spring on the farm means lambs and bluebells

Spring is a truly magical time to visit the farm, especially for youngsters! It’s the season when our fields and barns come alive with the pitter-patter of tiny hooves and snouts. Adorable baby lambs, playful piglets, and curious kid goats make their grand debut, and families can get up close during our special “Meet the Lambs” or “Feed the Lambs” sessions in the lambing tunnel.

The Easter Bunny also hops by for some festive fun and games each year. Don’t miss soaking in the beauty of the season, with gorgeous bluebells in our woodlands and colorful wildflowers in the meadows.

Butterfly tunnel

Summer adventures for young explorers

Summer at the farm is bursting with fun and discovery for the whole family. Step into our tropical butterfly tunnel to learn all about the amazing life cycle of these fascinating creatures.

Get ready to cheer at the return of our famous pig races! Watch our specially trained pigs as they dash down the track throughout the school holidays and on weekends. You’ll also spot friendly goats in their paddock and sheep grazing in the meadows.

And during the summer holidays, we have lots of extra fun activities planned to – all included in your visit, at no extra cost!

Autumn on the farm - donkey in the meadow

Autumn means crisp walks, crunchy leaves and… Effel Fartwaffer!

Stroll through golden woodlands and leaf-covered paths. The changing colours and cooler air make it a great time for little ones to explore nature. We close our butterfly tunnel in this season and our pig racing but you can still meet the animals who are all ready for a friendly visit. It’s also a quieter season, perfect for families who prefer a slower pace or need less stimulation.

Stop in to the Granary Restaurant for gourmet pumpkin spice and ginger spice lattes for the grownups and hot chocolates with marshmallows for the kids.  The highlight of the season is our week-long Halloween event featuring Effel Fartwaffer and friends. She might entertain with a stinkorium, a magic potions show or something completely unique and not to be missed

Magical winter family events

Winter on the farm is full of exciting, festive events! In December we take our cattle barn and completely transform it into a sparkling Santa’s Grotto. The whole farm is at its most sparkly for our A Truly Magical Christmas event.

A little earlier in the year, we run our Christmas Gift Market in the Benson Barn featuring hand crafted gifts and goodies from local artisans.

This year, we’re launching our first low-bang fireworks display, complete with music, dancing and refreshments!
