Kunekune pig

Kunekune pigs are small, round, hairy pigs with big personalities. Their name comes from the Māori language and means “fat and round”, and the breed became well known in New Zealand.

Kunekunes are usually gentle, friendly and curious. They enjoy grazing, exploring and getting to know the people who care for them. With their calm nature and sociable character, they are lovely pigs for children to meet on the farm.

Our kunekune piglets were named by Muffin and Cupcake by our Facebook followers. They were born in April 2026 to mum Penelope and dad Gordon, and came to live on the farm on 30th July 2026. Come and visit them!

• The breed first arrived in Britain in 1992
• They grow to between 24 and 30 inches tall
• The breed came close to extinction in the 1970s
• These types of pigs come in a range of colours and coat patterns
• When fully grown they can weigh between 120 and 140 pounds
